Summary

Brother, Seth, and sister, Kendra, are left in the care of their paternal grandparents for a week, while the kids parents go on on unexpected trip. Kendra and her brother have no idea that their grandfather is the caretaker of a preserve for magical creatures, with laws giving relative order to trolls, satyrs, witches, fairies, gohems and more. But what happens when the rules are broken and grandpa goes missing or even abducted?
This book is a page turner, reminding me of a mix between Harry Potter and the Inkworld series. Fairies, magic and mischief at every turn. There was one part of the book that I found a little odd. I found the part with the kids sliding down a giant cows utter to milk it a little to detailed and ,due to this book being recommended for 9yrs old, a little inappropriate when other options were available.

Review

The character's were well formed and consistent through out the whole book. With one of the main characters growing significantly in awareness of their cause and effect on their choices and behavior. All the mystical creatures and setting were describe in enough detail, making it easy to imagine your self being there.

That being said I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I loved this book with adventure and unexpected turns. A big thumbs up! I would recommend this book for my daughters, even with that one odd part in the book. This book is definitely going on "my favorite books" shelf that I intend to read again.
